FBGD Numbers Competition
This competition was held in the FreeBASIC community from 04.06.2014. till 18.08.2014. and was sponsored by FBGD.
The competition rules:
  • The competition started on June 4th, 2014.
  • The objective was to create a game that references to numbers in any way through its gameplay and/or story/graphical design.
  • The game had to be compiled in FreeBASIC
  • The source code had to be provided with the entry
  • All libraries wrapped for FreeBASIC were allowed
  • The competition entries had to be be submitted before 18th of August, 2014, 18:00 GMT.
  • FBGD awarded the competitors with 50 $ for 2nd place and 250 $ for the 1st place
All entries were rated by me (Lachie Dazdarian) in 7 categories (Game design - 35 points, Gameplay - 15 Points, Progression - 6 Points, Replay Value - 6 Points, Graphics - 7 points, Sound/music - 7 points, Personal likeness - 6 points), total 82 points, and by the community vote (minimum 0 points, maximum 6 points).

This appears to be one of the weaker competitions, inadvertedly annoucing a hiatus from my side, which happened for other reasons. Nevertheless, it's sad we couldn't go out with a bang. Still, it could be to the somewhat uninspired competition theme that year. Nevertheless, the competition again featured another excellent entry by Landeel (third victory in a row), albeit not inspired as his earlier one, a gameplay-mechanics marvel Dominionoes, and an unfinished superb looking platformer Nomera. All in all, stuff worth being checked out.
