--------------------
Configuration
--------------------

To configure the game, select "Configuration" from the mode select screen.

Graphics: These settings will not take effect until you restart the program.

*Screen Resolution - Press enter to cycle through available modes.
Additional modes can be added by modifying the "screenmodes.txt" file in the data folder.
If the game will not start due to an incompatible mode (especially if it was configured to start in fullscreen), you can manually change the mode in use in the data/config.txt file. The first line is the mode number, corresponding to the appropriate line in modes.txt. The first line is mode 0.
*Fullscreen - Press enter to choose between fullscreen and windowed mode.
The second line in config.txt is the fullscreen flag - 1 for on, 0 for off.

Audio:

*Music Volume - Adjust the volume of the music. Press left/right to adjust.
*Sound Volume - Adjust the volume of sound effects. Press left/right to adjust.

Controls:

This isn't implemented yet. Touch it if you want to, it doesn't actually do anything. Will work by 1.0 though.

--------------------
Game Modes
--------------------

Currently, there are 5 game modes, with 3 settings each. Press left/right on the title screen to change modes.

-Time Attack
Attempt to get as far as you can in a fixed amount of time.
Settings: 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes.

-Speedrun
Attempt to clear a certain distance as quickly as possible.
Settings: 200km, 500km, 1500km.

-Endless
Get as far as possible with limited time. Clear checkpoints to gain more time.
Settings:
Easy - Gain 60 sec at each checkpoint
Medium - Gain 45 sec at each checkpoint
Hard - Gain 30 sec at each checkpoint

-Score
Collect green, blue, and white blobs while avoiding red, yellow, and purple. Points gained/lost depend on how close to the center of the blob you hit.
In timed modes (1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes) the only goal is to collect as many points as possible.
In distance modes (200km, 500km, 1500km) points are deducted the longer you stay on the course, so getting to the finish quickly is important.

More game modes will be added in the future.

--------------------
Default Controls
--------------------

Arrows - Steer
S - Brake
Q - Boost - Requires 1 unit of power
~ - Bubble - Requires 1 unit of power
Escape - Pause Menu

The booster will give your ship an increased amount of acceleration for a short period of time.
The bubbler will slowly expand the area of tube around and in front of the ship, for about 5 seconds. There is a slight reflexive effect, which causes the tube to shrink slightly after the expansion is complete.

--------------------
Powerups/downs
--------------------

Powerups and powerdowns appear on a specific segment of tube, and are indicated on the minimap and on the tube by a glowing section.

You must be within a certain distance of the center of the tube for the effect to occur. The closer to the center, the greater the effect (except for Bubble/Pinch).

Red - Slowdown: Your ship loses speed.
Green - Turbo: Your ship gains a large amount of speed.
Blue - Power: Gain up to 2 units of power.
Yellow - Drain: Lose a unit of power.
White - Bubble: Expands a short section of tube ahead of you.
Purple - Pinch: Collapses a short section of tube ahead of you. Will not shrink tube below a certain size.

There is a KNOWN BUG - the music volume will change your system's WaveOut mixer level. To temporarily fix this, the game will restore your old mixer level on exit, but it's still changed while the game is open. Hopefully this will be fixed by version 1.0.
