You should sync to the monitor refresh.
If you're using OpenGL, try this: http://www.freebasic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=13715

It has an option to vsynch but disabled by default.

Well, my game is complete.   ;D
I could release it as is, but I will try to use the extra time to improve the graphics and gameplay.

The compo organizer wouldn't mind a private peek. :)

Yeah, sure. I will upload it when I get home tonight.
I have just added mouse support, so it's possible to aim using the mouse now.  ;)

Damn, things are so hectic at work for me atm, I can't find time to play the entries that have been sent to me. Grrr! I hope I'll catch few hours tomorrow.

Jonge, BadMrBox, how are your entries developing?

Haven't made much progress lately. I got side tracked when working on a tool for my gfx files. Hoping to do some coding tonight.

Had the flu for two weeks then insomnia hit me this week. 2 ½ hours worth of sleep in three days \o/. My progress is discouraging. At least I have been able to get some sleep at the end of the week.

It took longer than expected, but my game engine is pretty much finished. Now, I just have to finish filling in the rest of the content.
