INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to Color Triple Yahtzee! The new and improved classic game. By the name
I'm sure you already have an idea what the game is all about. I did however add
a few things to hopefully give this classic game a new twist.

For example, when you run the game you'll notice that all dies have different
colors on each of their faces. There are 5 colors total which means each dice
has 2 values with the same color and 4 of the other colors. You'll notice that
there are a lot more possible scoring values. This is because certain score
items are for the face values of the dies (1 through 6) and others are for the
color value of the die's current face value.

Finally you'll also want to notice that there are three columns on the scoreboard
marked "SINGLE", "DOUBLE" and "TRIPLE". As expected this gives you the chance
select which column your current score can go to. if it goes in the first column
it's score is as is on the dies. If you select the second column the die values
are double, tripled if you select the 3rd column.

KEYBOARD OPERATION:

The possible keystrokes and their actions depends on where you currently are in the
game. There are essentially three general places you can be at any time. here is
the keyboard options for each of these places.

  In Main Menu:

[Up/Down] <- Navigate through the menu Options
    [Enter] <- Selects menu options

  During Game Play:

    [1] - [5] <- allows you to hold/unhold the dies.
    [Space] <- Rolls the dies
    [Arrows] <- Navigate Score Board
[Enter] <- Enters score at the current location
[Escape] <- Go back to the main menu

  In The High Schore Viewer:

    [Up/Down],
    [Page Up/Down],
[Home/End] <- Navigate through the high score list
[Escape] <- Go back to the main menu

GAMING RULES:

The rules are much like the classic game of Yahtzee! as you might expect. As such
here is a basic run down.

      1. Each Player get's 3 rolls of the dies to try to make a score. See below for
a list of the good scoring combinations on the scoreboard.

      2. Anytime during these 3 roles player can select a score and end his/her turn

      3. Each score selection gets a confirmation if you confirm, there's no going
back and you have to take the score you selected so take your time.

      4. If there is no possibility of a score you need, just like the classic game,
         to zero an item out.

SCORING COMBINATIONS:

Top Section: The Die Face Values

The top section has labels "Total Ones" to "Total Sixes". For this top section
the object is to try to get as many of the dices to roll the face values. Hence
the more 4s you have the higher the scores on the "Top Fours" line. Same thing
for the other face values shown in the top section.

If the total of your scores of the top section equals 63 or more (126 in the
double column and 189 in the triple column) you get a bonus of 35 points (70
points in the double and 105 in the triple section). So you'll want to try
hard to get the max amount of face value dies in the top section.

  Color Section:

This section is completely based on the color of the face of the dies. The way
the dies are colored, if you had all 5 dies showing one color you would either
     have 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 or 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, When playing for the color section
only the values of the faces showing the right colors are added up. Hence if
you have 4, 5 and 6 in red and the other 2 dies are any other colors, your total
for your red would be 15 (30 in the double column and 45 in the triple column).

To get the bonus in this section you need to average 15 in each color (30 in
the double column and 45 in the triple column). Which would bring your total
for the colors section to 75 (150 in the double, 225 in the triple section).
If you can get atleast these totals you will get 25 bonus points (50 in the
double column and 75 in the triple column) so again getting the bigger die
values is the ultimate goal in the color section.

  Bottom Section: (Poker Hand section)

I call this one the poker hand section because when you look at the scoring
lines in this section you'll see you can relate them to different poker hands.
Here I'll give examples of what each mean and how to score them. Some score
values are fixed, others are summed up so here are the details in the order
     the appear on the scoreboard:

     Three Of A Kind:

This entails that you roll atleast 3 dices with the same face values. For
example, say you have three fives, a 2 and a 6. This would qualify as a
three of a kind. Any face values can be used to get a three of a kind. To
score, if you have atleast 3 dies with the save face value (1 to 6) you
add up the dies and enter the total on the score line. (in this game this
operation is performed automatically for you.

     Four of a kind:

This works the same way and follows the same rules as Three OF A kind
except that you need atleast 4 dies showing the same face value. To
score here you sum up the dies just like you would in a Three Of A Kind

     Three Of A Color:

This is similar to three of a kind but this time the 3 dies need to have
the same color, not the same face values. Hence if you have atleast 3
dies of the same color, it qualifies as a 3 of a color. Again here the
score is summed up based on the dies face value and shown.

     Four of a color:

Once again, just like Three of a color, following the same rules and
scoring method except you need atleast 4 dies of the same color.

     Rainbow:

You can probably guess what needs to happen here. All dies need to be
of different colors. This means you need to have 1 dice that's red,
another that's cyan, a green one a brown one and a purple one. The
scoring here is 30 points in the single column (60 in the double and
       90 in the triple column).

     Full House:

Just like in poker, you need 3 dies of one face value, 2 dies of another
value. For example, 3 fives and 2 sixes would be a full house. the
scoring is fixed at 25 points in the single column (50 and 75 in the
       double and triple column respectively).

    Color Full House:

This is the same as the full house but based on colors shown. For
example, 3 reds and 2 greens would be a color full house (any two
color combination work here of course. Scoring is 35 points in the
single column (70 and 105 points in the other two columns).

    Small Straight:

This type of hand is a set of 4 dies who's values follow sequentially
in face value. There are 3 possible combinations. There is 1, 2, 3
and 4. There can also be 2, 3, 4 and 5. Finally the last combination
is 3, 4, 5 and 6. If you get any of these 3 combinations you get
a small straight and can select the score of 30 points in the single
column (60 and 90 in the other two columns respectively).

    Large straight:

Same principle as the small straight but with 5 consecutive values. Here
       only 2 combinations exist: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Get one
of these and you can select 40 points for the single column (80 and 90
points respectively in the other two columns).

    Flush:

This hand involves all 5 dies and imply that all 5 dies are of one of
the possible colors. 5 reds or 5 green etc. They do not have to be
consecutive values, just the same color. Scoring is 45 points in the
single column (90 and 135 in the two other columns). When you get a
flush, a message will be display so you known you have it (as you
might want to stop rolling the dies and just picking the score in this
       case).

Bonus: When you get your 4th flush in one game you start getting some
bonuses. So each extra flush you get after 3 you get 100 bonus
points on the bonus line (200 in double, 400 in triple).

    Yahtzee:

Like the Flush, this involves all 5 dies. This time however, all 5
dies need to have the same face values. hence 5 sixes, or 5 threes
would be a Yahtzee. You get a fancy text message congradulating you
       of your achievement.

Bonus: When you get your 4th Yahtzee in one game you start getting some
bonus points. So each extra flush you get after 3 you get
125 bonus points on the bonus line (250 in double, 500 in triple).

     Chance:

I like to call this row the backup plan of your game. In Chance anything
goes. You just add up the dies face values no matter what combination you
have. Hence, as a hint, if you try to go for a specific hand (say a large
straight for example) and you fail to get it in your 3 allotted dice rolls
you can always select to score in the Chance row instead if zeroing out
your large straight. A word of caution, you only 3 chances per game, use
       them wisely.

GAME PLAY:

When you start the game you are presented with the title page. At the press of a
key, you will be taken to the main gaming section and the main menu will be
  presented to you.

From the main meny you can do one of 5 things.

  1. Start A New Game.

This will ask you for player information and begin playing the game. Or, if
this is the 2nd or more game being played it will ask you if you want to
keep the same information for the players.

When the game begins, the status bar (at the bottom) gives you all possible
choices you have. Press 1 through 5 to hold/unhold the dies you want to
keep. Press Space to roll the unheld dies again. If you're satisfied with
your current score just use the arrow keys to locate where you want the
score to appear on the scoreboard and press Enter.

You will then get a confirmation message for the selected score. If you
select Confirm and press enter the score will be entered. But, if you
pick Cancel instead you will be taken back to the game to select a different
     location to place your score.

The next player is then up (or you if you are playing a one player game). and
the cycle starts over with pressing Space to roll, arrows to select score and
     the likes.

  2. Load Existing Game.

This is a straightforward menu option. There's no file selection involved.
When you select this option the game file is loaded automatically and you will
get a confirmation waiting for you to press a key to continue playing the game.

  3. Save Current Game.

This is equally straightforward. No filename to specify or anything. Select
this option, game gets saved, and you get a confirmation that all went well.
pressing a key then takes you back to the main menu.

  4. View Top 100 high scores.

When you select this option you will be taken to a lost of high scores that
you can navigate so you can see who the 100 top scores are so far. Your aim
is to either make it to the list (which means having a high enough score to
be higher than the 100th score listed (if any). If there's no scores yet
any game you play will make it to the list. When you're done viewing the
high scores just hit Escape to go back to the main meny.

  5. Exit Color Triple Yahtzee!

A dialog appears when you select this option that asks for your confirmation
to physically exit the game and go back to the operating system. if you
select Yes the game will exit, if you select No, you will be taken back to
the main menu to pick another option.

SCORING POSSIBILITIES:

For the most part, scoring occurs when you select a location (that's not zero
if you don't want to zero something out) and press enter. The score is then
entered and the scoreboard calculated so that totals can be accumulated.

To best describe the scores here is a view of the scoreboard that would
represent the maximum possible scores in all cells. This will give you
an idea of hwo things work just by itself.

IN CONCLUSION:

And there you have, the game in all it's details, to see what this is all
about just either compile the CTY.BAS file or run the CTY.EXE file and start
