Isometric Engine: not named yet;
« on: February 02, 2008, 07:37:32 PM »
Hello.
No screen shots are available yet, but by the end of next week, (if I decide to not find excuses), I should have a few screen shots of the engine working. I'm building the engine on Linux but I'm building it so that windows should easily compile a game with my engine.

the non-official name for this engine is KIsoE; Kalvin's Isometric Engine (I know, original)
I'm hoping that I'm going to get a website and some screen shots so that you programmers can enjoy atleast half of what I'm enjoying (and hating)

Heres what I Have so far:
Using SDL I've made,
Map Maker Beta 0.1
KIsoE main development files
Character, tiles, map, types
Display
and others that i can't think of right now

here is what to be done (in general)
Map Loading
Sound
AI
Upgrade on the Map Maker software (ie: File checking)
and other small features that are too numerous to type

SDL? Why not FBGFX? :P

Not sure if the sound implementation is needed. Well, at least if I'm asked.

Anyway, must wait to see some screenshots or the actually engine to give you a more in-depth comment.

Well, the engine is being made for a game, and i think sound for a game would be nice (unless the main character can't hear)

Well, sound implementation doesn't have the be a part of the engine. That was my point. But not really important.

Canceled

Due to working conditions this project has been canceled until further notice.

I hate to say this but while working on the project I've received an error in the SDL source code; in which I don't have, I cannot debug further therefore the project is canceled. The project will continue in C/C++ with hopes that the error will not occur again.

Shame and pity.  I was looking forward to another great game written in FB.
The funniest thing happened yesterday.

The Error is something simple (hopefully) so don't be so offended about the engine closing...anyhow, i can get bullheaded at times; and right now (seeing all the disappointment, etc) I'm gonna fix this problem even if it means reprogramming it to fit a different library for FB

for this month I'm making sure that I'll be working on this engine as hard as I can;

it would be nice if some graphic-intense-Pixel artist decide to help me with my art :)

LOL
no offense taken; I like FB too much, C++ is only good for people who wish to think out their brains. i started with FB, might as well end with it.
