A Change of Season
« on: June 20, 2013, 03:08:36 PM »
Heres a small demo of "A Change of Season" which was supposed to be my entry for the Seasons Compo. I haven't made any progress since the end of the comp, but I really want to work more on this game. I just need to finish some other things first.

This demo only shows a simple map(the start of level 1) with a few(7) goblin enemies. You can kill enemies, but you dont take any damage yet.

Controls:
- Move with arrowkeys
- Fire left "A" key
- Fire straight "S" key
- Fire right "D" key

I really dig the smooth feel of this, and the attacking (shooting) appears to be well conceptualized. Would love you to continue working on this. Also, gfx is really solid, for someone, who like me, is learning to pixelize.

Please keep going!

EDIT: If it's not a secret, how did you plan to plug in the seasons theme in the game?

Thanks  :) I did use some time getting the movement and controls the way I wanted. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I'm trying to improve my pixeling skills and this is probably the best stuff I've made. Its by no means perfect, but I think it will do.

I tried to come up with a good way to use the compo theme, but it ended up being mostly a superficial part of the game.
- 4 levels, one for each season
- Different tilesets for each season
- Weather effects, rain and snow. Maybe some wind.
- Ice would make you slide,  muddy parts that slow you down.
- Maybe a different spell for each level that relate to the season.
- Story is simple: a cold evil enemy brings an unnatural winter, thats why the season changes as you fight your way closer to the final enemy.

Ps. when will we see your pixel cars in a FBGD thread?  ;)
