And I'm cursing that I did it in that resolution, and didn't give myself two extra days to figure out all the bugs that are simply caused by out-of-bound array and pointer accesses:) Oh well... Thankfully Lachie said it wouldn't count, but still it seems I'm losing some votes to it.

Anyway, this competition seems to have become much better than the last one! I hope there will be another one next year with a good theme like this one, though it'll be my first year in the university so we'll see...

Good luck trying to come up with who gets the prizes Lachie, you sure made yourself a difficult choice:)

@N3trunn3er: I started playing the game. It's great that you were able to add good music, did you get it somewhere or make it yourself? I know I could never "write" something like that that's for sure, so congrats! However, it'd be much better if you'd added some mouse functionality (backpack), a big bigger screen, and a MINIMAP! It's probably just me, but I'm always lost:)

The music is from "The High Voltage SID Collection" (Expect of two tracks you only find in some secrets).

3D was so kind to test play for me, after what he found I made a new patch, get it: http://games.freebasic.net/forum/index.php?topic=474.msg5247#msg5247

In fact there is a minimap! (there is even a bloody compass Cool)
There is a minimap for every level, but you have to find it first Wink
In the first level the map is hidden, in the second level(after the teleporter) you will find it quiet quickly.

I thought about mouse, but there was no time. Maybe later. Bigger screen(eagle/2x) is on my ToDo list as next.
But as said, no time. For those 3 month, the project is already as big as it could be.
We will see what I have in mind for later...

Today I made a speed run through the whole game(with all secrets), took me 40 minutes!
I recorded it on video, will upload it on youtube soon...

I'm not sure why you people are having problems with Chacks. C'mon, we are programmers! You open chack.bas file with some FB IDE, click compile, and move the exe to the main folder. Done! Nevertheless, I uploaded a version with a Windows executable (same link). Hrm...

Chack! Chack! Chack! Chack!

Hopefully people will be able to play it now.

ssjx:

Here's how to play Plix TD with a 1280x1024 ratio compatible screen:

You need to recompile, with this in libs\buttons.lib, on lines 37/38: (replace the original screenres, and add these two lines)

screenres 1280, 1024, 32,,fb.GFX_ALPHA_PRIMITIVES+fb.GFX_FULLSCREEN

Hear the man. We don't all have 1080 by 1024 screens. Got it, bitch?

Lol. It was 1280... anyway, you have the correct ratio.. your monitor can't upsize to 1280x1024? It won't work without a minimum width of 1280 without reworking the entire code (I guess). :-(

LCD monitors, being the main monitors used today in American homes, can not expand their size to whatever they see fit. There is no projection or pixel approximation. You'd be lucky to get 800x600.

Lol, are you living in Washington DC? I can't afford shit like that. I'm running my whole operating system off of a flash drive.

@Brick Break
What is your PC configuration?
Computers are very cheap this days, you can buy brand new bussines configuration for approx. 120 euros, 19" LG LCD monitor costs less than 100 euros in a store. You can find used PC with monitor for 50-60 euros. You can earn that money for a day. So there is no reason to torture your self by running an OS from a flash drive. But even if you do so try DSL (damn small linux), I've tried it and successfuly compiled/runned fb apps on a Pentium I with 32Mb of RAM from a flash drive, and it was way faster than expected - I've built Video Slot Machine out of it Smiley .

FreeBASIC does not work on 286, you need 32 bit system. 386 does do magic...

I made it a personal rule that I will only buy desktops for servers. Laptops are significantly more expensive.
