irr_chung is a free 3D game i wrote in freebasic and irrlicht openGL.

You can explore the vast game area , find persos or kill monsters.
If your health is low, look for a potion.

How much is this close to a complete game or is it still heavy under development? I don't like uploading demos under development on FBGD.

Will give it a spin.

EDIT: It's nice to see you keep working on these 3D projects and perfecting them, but this one specifically, is still on a level of engine-prototype. I would prefer that you concentrate on one 3D project and bring it to some sort of playable level.

That's quite a list there. It amazes me how you are able to crank out games so fast and put them all over the internet- while I'm still struggling to draw a box. Cheesy

If you remain stuck on your half-baked designs you won't get much feedback. Trust me on this. You need to polish your designs dude. This is way too much prototype-looking. A game needs to have a head and tail, game elements their background and purpose, not just being a bunch of random elements poorly glued together. I don't mind small and limited games....but the elements that make it need to form a coherent world/system.

I agree and disagree.

Yes, games need to be coherent (with some exceptions like Second Life)

No, it is not a prototype. I read his blog. He has actually written DLLs to load in 3DS and OBJ models, as well as complete game engines in both Liberty Basic and FreeBasic. Now, I don't know how much of that is Irrlicht, but I would at least give him credit for understanding the engine.

Overall, Chung has ideas, skills, and tools, but no focus. It's also kind of sad that the first thing he does is spam up the forum with every Irrlicht game he's ever made.

Well, maybe "prototype" is a wrong word to use here, but this is still only an engine and I compliment him on constructing that. I just wish he concentrated then on documenting the engine better so other's could continue using his work with better focus as he lacks it.

True that.

On second thought, I think English is a second language, so he might need a second person to help document. I remember the original Irrlicht documentation was riddled with problems. If I was on a Windows machine, I would volunteer, but I'm not.
