Unnamed tech demo
« on: October 02, 2008, 10:29:17 PM »
Inspired by Galactic Empire, but i wanted to see if i could make better looking (IMHO) planets.  OpenGL powered 2d sprite graphics with a day/night cycle on planets, seperate planet rotation, and a little bit of atmospheric glow on the planets(if you look closely).

Looks good, it'd work well in a slow paced game don't you think? With tiny ships or something.

Cool. I wanted to ask how do you create those shadows and glow, but from the package it's all clear now. Clever. I might try to use the same trick in my project (also a 2D opengl game).

Anyway, I liked Galactic Empire, although being inferior to the original GalCon. It was a different game. It was dark.

Hope to see your version completed, unlike Galactic Empire.

That's a really nice start, I like it :)

I'm unhappy with myself that GalEmp is not completed. It's the same with Moon Project which I did before GalEmp. I have quite a lot ideas and things to do for both of them but I don't have a lot of time for programming, well partly that's an excuse, I'm rather not interested or motivated in finishing them. But I'm happy that someone is inspired by my work ;)
