1  FreeBASIC Game Development / Competitions / Re: "A Love Letter To FreeBASIC" Competition (Oct 2018 Feb 2019), 1000 $ 1st prize on: February 06, 2019, 06:14:30 PM
I don't know if I'll have time to participate, but I hate goodbyes. However, if I do, it wont be my last FB project... unless I die. I get the itch to program something in FB, every once in a while.

I've always felt a strong connection to this community, so there is something I'd like to say...

I know I haven't been the same... or just entirely gone. I'm sorry. My brother killed himself. My best friend took his own life. I haven't been the same. He was my best friend. We talked just shortly before... It's been a couple years now, so the people who don't love me say I should be better, but I'm not. I fake it, but I'm almost always sad or angry. I go hide in the bathroom at work, so I can cry. I lash out at people who have done nothing wrong... I totally ignore people... I'm sorry to bring this up in  here. We used to have like instant IRC chat and shit... Now we have fucking facebook.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I'm excited to see what you talented mother fuckers will create... I have too little time.

Don't kiss her(FreeBASIC) goodbye, though... Please, don't do that.

One more thing... I didn't donate anything. Good Golly, Miss Molly... HOW MUCH? WOW!!!! Grin

Hmmm... interesting. Is it like a text adventure? Hopefully, it didn't take 4 hours to display text. Has it been that long? :p

Sounds like fun! I'll try... But I'm even more limited on time than I used to be. Can we have teams?
5  General / General Discussion / Re: Project almost ready for release... on: March 24, 2017, 11:08:33 PM
Thanks man! Right now it's Android only, but we're planning a PC release as well. We're using the Unity engine with C# and Java for programming the actual game logic and communication, and we're using JSON to save/load levels. As far as libraries go, we're using our own utility library we created specifically for Unity, plus some required plugins from Google. We have a a fully functional level editor too. It includes a digital signal generator, logic gates(AND, OR, NOT and a Clock) There are all kinds of mechanical devices...  Pistons, saws, spawners for the sentinel bots, emitters for launching projectiles, etc... It has switches, such as pressure plates, blast detectors, trip wires, toggle switches, etc... It also has a dialogue editor for banter with the boss. :p All of these things can be connected together in different ways using the level editor. You can do pretty much anything. You can share your creations online as well. Right now, there are 20 levels that sir_mud and I have created, which will be the main story levels. Anyway, open beta is coming soon. We're really hoping to get it out there this weekend. We did run a closed alpha, with really limited feedback, which was pretty disappointing. Hopefully an open beta will be more fruitful. We've worked really hard on this thing, so it's nice to get some feedback. Thanks for checking it out man. When it's available, we'll let you know. Smiley

Good. It's nice to see you!  Grin
It's kind of sad that we don't make this place more lively.
I think no matter what I do, FreeBASIC will always be my favorite language.
I've lost touch with a lot of the community, I suppose, but I still think about the old times.
Thankfully, I'm still in contact with a number of people through other platforms.
7  General / General Discussion / Project almost ready for release... on: February 09, 2017, 10:56:46 PM
Hey guys. This is not a FreeBASIC project, but I wanted to post it here because FreeBASIC is my first love, and I love the community.
Sir_mud and I have been working on this one for a while. We've been in closed alpha testing for a while, with not much help... besides Lachie. He actually did. Thanks again man.
Since that didn't go quite as planned, we're going to be moving to open Beta testing... hopefully that goes better.
So, anyway, here's a video I made showing off some of the gameplay. We plan to make a proper trailer, but we still have some polishing to do on the game itself.

Yeah, sorry about that. My site has been taken down, inexplicably. The whole server is gone though, and I can't get in touch with the admins. They were known as Attacke and his brother... I think he was called TBBQ? Anyway, sorry about that. :\
13  General / General Discussion / Hmmm... on: April 16, 2015, 12:48:40 AM

Try again and see if that helped at all Lachie? There is a lot more to do, but this should remove the choppy feel...
