Title: Ideas for the next competition.
Post by: Lachie Dazdarian on September 26, 2010, 06:05:02 AM
Hello.

Since I'm planning to start a new FBGD sponsored competition within 1-2 months, I would appreciate your ideas regarding the competition theme. All suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks.

Well, you know my suggestion's always going to be "make the most out of using no libraries" or "software rendered 3D", but that's just because I'm selfish.

Because nothing's going to work on my computer anyways (unless I make it) maybe it should be a space theme? Just a thought.

I'm more leaning toward "theme-based" competition too. I don't like genre/gameplay restrictions.

OK, the theme is alpha transparency. Alpha transparency has to be heavily used.

Just an idea.

How about a genre compo? Best RPG? Driver? Puzzler?

Or maybe best board game conversion, like making a video game of Monopoly, checkers or marbles?

Or best arcade style?

Or best shooter?

Just some ideas....

Lachie said he didn't like genre. I'm with you on the board game conversion, arcade or shooter though.

I like the board game idea. Makes me think of heroquest/space crusade type games, something that would not be too difficult but gives lots of scope for story, effects etc...

Oh, and if you could send an email with starting dates like last time that would be cool, i still check here often but i don't want to miss the start!

I'll notify all forum members announcing the competition. Board game idea is not bad.
