Please use this thread to post links to free game dev resources. Free music, graphics, fonts, tools for making them, whatever.

Thank you.

A cool pixel art tutorial by Derek Yu, the guy behind I'm OK graphics (play that game!):

Technical precision aside, I'm Ok is a very disturbed game.  :P  The graphics and gameplay are cool, though, and I'm looking forward to a play through Eternal Daughter.  Thanks for the link, Lachie.

I'm Ok is a satirical game made in a comic style. It's really far from something disturbing. At least to me.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with the background of the game, but it was made as a response to the "modest video game proposal" issued in late-2005 by activist attorney Jack Thompson. Wiki it.

As regarding Eternal Daughter, did you try it so far? I won’t try to talk you out of playing it, but everything felt wrong to me in that game. I’m glad Derek Yu quite improved from the level he was on while working on Eternal Daughter.

Can we not have a full-length discussion having nothing to do with game resources in the sticky Game Resources thread?
The funniest thing happened yesterday.

Tile/sprites editors:

http://tilestudio.sourceforge.net/  - Very easy to use and get accustomed too. Excellent import/export feature (at least to me).

http://www.humanbalance.net/gale/us/ - Seems more advanced and versatile than Tile Studio, but didn't get a chance to use it.

Music/sound editors:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ - A great sound file editing tool. Crop, cut, apply simple effects, convert from/to various formats. No MIDI support.

My friend and fellow Ragnarok Games fellow Mr_T have made code for tilestudio to FB. I'll make him release the code ASAP. He doesn't like the jaggyness the FBGFX2 brings too it but well... its the best we can have without opengl and stuff. Personally, I dont really like fbgfx2 too be totally honest. :-\

Thanks.

Anyway, I'm not sure how much of you know about Terragen: http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/

It's a small, simple to use scenery generator that allows you to create all kind of photorealistic terrains. It's free for non-commercial usage.

Much advanced Terragen 2 is also available, but is too damanding for my PC.

Some of the stuff I did in Terragen:

Don't know where exactly in game dev Terragen could prove to be most useful, but perhaps for planet surfaces in some space exploration game.

Thanks. I was looking for something like this (althought not vigorously :P).

Might be a good place to mooch some music when I get working on another project.
