SPAM in game comments
« on: August 03, 2010, 12:23:32 PM »
@Lachie

I was reading through the comments on several FBGD games (mine of course!) and there is a lot if spam garbage in them. You may want to see if you can screen out the junk. I saw everything from prescriptions to porn ads.

Oh, I thought you were talking about over-commented sources, like:

Code: [Select]
'this code sets the screen res
screenres 640,480,32,2
'the screen res is now set

I hate that.

No I am referring to the Games page where you can add comments to one of the games.

I realize that. That's why I left the disappointed comment.

This thread sucks. No code, just PSAs.

I'm on the constant hit of bots. Will try to find time to clean up the comments.

Spam in comments removed. Phew. There was like a zillion of them. I didn't clean them for months.

So you clean all that by hand? I could name a few ways you wouldn't have to do that.

The link script seems to act up again. I tried to download Moonproject but all I got was a empty zipfile.

Be my guest.
1) Require registration to post comments
2) Use ReCaptcha
3) Enable a spam flagging system or peer moderation
4) Get more mods
5) Filter by regex

The list goes on and on.
