Game Dev / Re: Which game library ?
« on: November 17, 2009, 01:18:08 AM »
Hi,
thanks for your response.

Everybody is clear on this point : First, i will read the lachie's tutorials and i will use fbgfx and FMOD to program my first game.

About my IDE, i program on Ubuntu Environment and - a little - on windows environment. I'm using Scite on Ubuntu and FBIde on Windows. I don't know if Scite is the best choice on Ubuntu Environment but it seems good.

See you soon on Programming Forum ! ;D

Game Dev / Which game library ?
« on: November 15, 2009, 01:15:57 AM »
Hello,
i'm a newbie in game development. :P
I have searched a simply language which can manipulate external libraries and i have chosen Freebasic. ;)
Now, i want to choose a game library (or fewer libraries) for developing (in a first time) a little 2D car game for my 3 years old son.
In the "links" chapter freebasic site, fewer libraries can be used :
- Allegro (graphic, sound,...)
- BASS (sound)
- OpenGL
- and more and more.....
But i can't choose because i have no acknowledgement about this one.

You have (for a lot) a good game developing experience, so i need you to choose my game libraries.
I'd like to know which libraries you are currently using, the difficulty level to use this one and possibly the weakness and the strongness of this one.

For information, i want to develop a game which run under Ubuntu and Windows....

Thanks a lot for your help
