*ninja*  Sorry guys - I edited a potential spoiler or two out.  Lachie probably doesn't like that, because it can start flame wars since people get defensive about their post content.  I won't be editing any more, of course.  I think everyone here's hit the same point in the game by now.

I know I contributed to it and have already played through it multiple times, but I love this game.
The atmosphere, the style, the abstract story, the uh... The things I've already mentioned to you. :-\ Oh well. It's great. :P

Oh, hi Josiah. Sorry, I forgot to email you the moment I released the game. Hope you won't hold that against me.

Anyway, I updated the original thread with a new download link (version 1.1).

I fixed the bugs reported by nkk and hexdude (first two contain spoliers):

* the bug with the pong game not displaying properly (thanks nkk)
* grey box artifact in the nameless man animation (thanks hexdude)

* some rather clumsy image memory buffers stunts were done in version 1.0. which made the game crash at certain points (ack!); well, at least I fixed it

I'm glad you finally finished this; maybe I can someday finish a few of my previous projects. ;)
I just got back from Disneyland, so my dialup connection will be busy tonight, but maybe if I can find a connection to upload my 4GB of pictures and video, I can download this too. :) :D
BTW, this thread is hard to read. :P  8)

Finished it (with the help of nkk..er, shhh :) ) - very awesome atmosphere and witty descriptions... got stuck a couple of times where I don't know if I would've found the solution myself, but with a few hints, I made it.  I was quite impressed by the endlessly filling bucket. ;)

I was quite impressed by the endlessly filling bucket. ;)

It's not endless, it fills up slowly and overflows, and when it does, you get a special prize if you push space at the moment of overflowing. So watch it carefully. And remember, if your eyes get tired, it's worth it, keep watching.

Ugh, I'm not very good at this sort of thing.  This will sound really lame, but I haven't even figured out how to start.  Visited all the visitable areas on all four maps, examined and tried to grab everything I could see, and talked to the two NPCs I saw.  Nothing has happened.  Do I need to keep looking for something, or is there something really obvious I'm missing?
The funniest thing happened yesterday.

notthecheatr, you have been PMed.

Anyway, there was a version update.

From the updated readme:

Quote
Version 1.2 (07.06.2008) - A gameplay critical bug fixed. One of the game triggers wasn't reset properly once you executed it in one game. If you played a new game after that trigger has been changed in any of the previous games or after you loaded a saved game with this trigger changed, you were able to finish the game without having to execute this action that was solved (triggered) in a previous game.

I'm so proud: http://www.reloaded.org/download/Barren/395/

A bit overrated, but who am I to complain?

BTW, my website monthly bandwidth is very thin! Ack! I mustn't make big (file size) games anymore. :P

Wow, even the negative points aren't so bad (I actually enjoyed the red herrings and difficult challenges)
