landeel,

Managed to beat level 1! (took 15 minutes!)   :D
Died in Pythonia by those pesky small green snakes  :P

Gamepad vibration works great! (on Windows 10 with xbox like controller)
Gamepad button bug also fixed;
Personal opinion:
1. I see that you changed amount of powers that spawned; It feels perfect now!
2. Level is/are a bit too long
3. Timesync turned on automatically for me I think; it stutters sometimes when you press buttons especially when you're moving forward or back. It gives the game a sluggish feel.

Hey, thanks for testing.
Nice to know vibration works.
I agree the levels are a bit too long, specially 3. Already talked to Lachie about this. I'll reduce them a bit before the deadline.
I don't think what you describe is timesync's fault.
Some shots will cause you to move slower while you use them, and that's intentional. You must stop shooting to move faster.
Anyway, you can disable timesync completely by setting timesync=0 in the .ini.

I don't know what's happening but I did some testing by tweaking the .ini.
I turned on showfps and tested different modes;

With only Vsync on, I was getting 60 but frequently fluctuated between 30-60
Without Vsync, I am getting like 150 in-game and it fluctuates from 80-150
With only Timesync on:  I was getting 62 but frequently fluctuated between 30-62
It seems like the FPS fluctuates a lot when I actually play the game regardless of what the fps is; and this is why I'm feeling the jerky gameplay.
It is not related to objects on screen because it happens even when only the horse is on the screen.

Then, I turned off Multithreading and then it ran smoothly at 60 fps  :)

I have a Core i3-540 3.4 Ghz (2 cores 4 threads with hyperthreading) with 4 gb ram; (running on SSD for good measure)
Game takes about 20% cpu in gameplay.

landeel,

Yes, So I had turned off vsync in my graphics card settings, which is why it was running too fast.
I tried the timesync=1 first, it kind of worked (as in slowed down the game) but was not smooth (movement was jerky)
So, I set vsync to application controlled in gfx card settings and then the game ran fine after that.

Played through the first level (couldn't finish it; too hard for me xD) and had fun time discovering different "punny" powers :D

Obtaining new powers can be a bit disorienting sometimes since some powers can be replaced/modified or swapped based on what command you pick up.
Maybe you can simplify choosing a palette slot for a power somehow;

Also, maybe the power sprites can be shrunk a bit? They seem a little bit big to me; I suppose they introduce difficulty but I feel they get in the way too much sometimes.
I see that you have different colours for different 'types' of powers; I'm guessing all the powers are all same sprite because it is a demo?
It would help if the sprites gave a hint as to type of power (for e.g. clear is a 'bomb', line is a 'grab', double/goto is 'shot' and so on)

Fun game overall!   :)

Yeah, I read that but that was 2 years ago.
I use Windows 10 and it is fully updated daily.
Better just check for infections just in case..

EDIT: Maybe it was a false detection, I redownloaded it and now it's not detecting anything.. hmm

ssjx,

I played your game today; Pretty good concept and wonderful execution..
Love those ascii graphics! :)

Windows Defender is telling me the precompiled binary is affected by "Trojan:Win32/Detplock" (attached image here)
So, I recompiled your program and it ran fine afterwards; Maybe your computer is infected, please check :x

Collision detection at corners in tablet levels seems to be a bit problematic (pixel perfect? xD), I keep dying to corners
where I can see that it would clear without hitting the wall but doesn't (https://imgur.com/a/hhWlwM5)

landeel,

I played your game and tried it with xbox controller; it worked great
But the game seemed to be running too fast for me. Is there any fps limiting done?

liked the game overall and the concept behind it! :)

I'm in too. FB was my first language that I was enthusiastic about and learned alot about game development. The community was really great and it made me feel like home.
It has been a while since I touched FB  ::). Participating in this compo should be nice way to remember stuff and a good time down the nostalgia lane.  :)

That  looks interesting!  :)
Judging by the trailer, it looks like a puzzle game involving lots of whirlygooglies (my favourite kind!)

I'm up for beta testing if you're going to open beta it.
What language and libraries are you using here?

Hi! :D

Good to see that this site is still up and running!
It feels blasphemous to say so but It's been a while since I last touched FreeBASIC.

I agree on mouse, I thought we had to click the buttons the first time

I'm also wondering how this relates to numbers apart from them being present in slots.

11
I have a decent idea and I'll start working on it today! :)
Details will be shared later :P

Hmm Numbers...
Probably some puzzle game but thinking it would be cliche  ::) :P
Trying to think of something out of the blue..

The Numbervold was really cool idea!
I remember playing it on my old old P3 :D

I haven't done anything in FB for ages but I'd love to give it a shot if you do it! :)

Overall a pretty solid and polished game (Except for the fact that you didn't compile with -s gui :P :P)
But i love the gameplay! It's still as tough as the original one..

Totally worth downloading for nostalgic factor and a solid remake :)

Oh and i'll just leave this here..
